Following a high-octane Sunday double-header in the IPL 2025 season, Virat Kohli and Prasidh Krishna continue to lead the Orange and Purple Cap tables, respectively. The action-packed day saw Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeat Rajasthan Royals (RR), while Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a convincing 37-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Dharamsala.
Arshdeep Singh Climbs to Third in Purple Cap Race
PBKS seamer Arshdeep Singh delivered a standout performance with figures of 3 for 16, helping his side secure an important win and propelling himself to third in the Purple Cap standings. He now has 16 wickets from 10 innings, climbing above other bowlers with similar wicket tallies due to his superior average and economy rate.
Gujarat Titans’ pacer Prasidh Krishna remains in pole position with 19 wickets in 10 matches, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Josh Hazlewood closely follows with 18. Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) spinner Noor Ahmad and Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Trent Boult also have 16 wickets each, but trail Arshdeep in the rankings.
KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy is also on the rise, picking up 2 for 32 against Rajasthan to take his season tally to 15 wickets, placing him firmly in contention for the top spots.
Jaiswal Breaks into Top Four of Orange Cap Standings
In the batting charts, RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has climbed to fourth place in the Orange Cap race after scoring a brisk 34 off 21 balls. With 473 runs from 12 innings, he now trails only the top three — all of whom are separated by razor-thin margins.
RCB’s Virat Kohli continues to lead the pack with 505 runs in 11 innings. Gujarat Titans’ B Sai Sudharsan is just a single run behind, having amassed 504 from one fewer match. MI’s Suryakumar Yadav remains third with 475 runs.
Meanwhile, PBKS opener Prabhsimran Singh made a significant leap in the rankings with a blazing 91 off 48 deliveries against LSG, taking his overall tally to 437 runs and pushing him to seventh place. He leapfrogged LSG’s Nicholas Pooran, who has struggled for consistency in recent games after a strong start to the tournament and now sits at No. 8.
Rounding out the top six are Gujarat Titans' Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill, who have accumulated 470 and 465 runs respectively.
With just a few games remaining before the playoffs, the Cap races are heating up, promising more individual brilliance and reshuffles in the days to come.
